Description (see more)

Zoo Ave is a must see in Alajuela. It may take set you back a half a day in your trip up north, but it is well worth it. This zoo is host to an amazing number of bird species native to Costa Rica, as well as a good variety of other animals. The place is a non-profit organization that has the following three goals: Environmental Education, Costa Rican Wildlife Rescue, and Care of Endangered Species.

The picturesque town of Greece in the province of Alajuela has the honor of being one of the cleanest towns in Central America. Located some 20 km north of the city of Alajuela, this small farming village is located about 20 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus. Northwest of the capital San José, Greece is located in the Central Valley of Costa Rica in the midst of a beautiful landscape of mountains and lush scenery.

Adjacent to Greece a few miles is the small town of Sarahi, known throughout Costa Rica for its beauty, its complex art, crafts and souvenirs. Located about 30 km. northwest of the city of Alajuela, in the province of Alajuela, the town of Sarchi is probably more known for his colorful and decorative bullock carts that are made here for centuries.
